Volunteer Support Needed in West Salem

The West Salem Branch of the Wayne County Public Library opened in 2005, with the full support of volunteers. Volunteers are trained to provide all aspects of library service to the patrons of the West Salem community. Without volunteer support, the services of the Wayne County Public Library would not be available.

If you would like to contribute to an important service to the community, there are many ways to do so. Volunteers are required to provide a 2-4 hour/week commitment, based on the position the volunteer holds.

Opportunities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing outreach services to community organizations, schools, and homebound patrons
  • Providing Story Time at the West Salem Branch
  • Providing customer service aspects to patrons using the library, including:
    • checking patrons out
    • discharging items from the patron’s record
    • processing reserves
    • assisting with reference questions
    • assisting patrons with basic computer use
