WiFi Hotspot Lending

Effective Date: July 21, 2025

To bridge the digital divide and provide equitable Internet access, the library offers Wi-Fi hotspots for loan to eligible patrons. This service supports educational, employment, and personal enrichment needs.

Hotspot devices can be checked out by Wayne County Public Library or Orrville Public Library cardholders with an Adult profile.

Temporary, Educator, Juvenile, or Three For Me cards cannot place holds or check out hotspot devices.

There is a restriction of one hotspot per library card.

Hotspot devices will not be sent to other CLEVNET libraries.

Hotspot devices must be returned to a Wayne County Public Library location.  They should be returned to the Check Out Desk and not placed in the book drop.

Hotspots should be returned with the USB cord, plug, and case in the same good working condition as it was when it was checked out. If the hotspot is damaged or not working, return it to the Check Out Desk and inform a staff member immediately.

If the hotspot is not returned within 1 day after the due date, service will be turned off and the hotspot will become unusable.

Internet service relies on cell tower technology. Coverage and user experience can vary based on location. Service is only available in United States.

Parents/guardians are responsible for the use of hotspot devices by minors.

Unlawful use of the Internet or use that violates the library’s Internet Use Policy is prohibited and will result in the loss of privileges.

Hotspots not returned on time may be subject to late fees as well as reinstatement fees charged by the provider.

Any tampering, modification, or misuse of a library hotspot, including but not limited to altering settings, removing components, or attempting to bypass security measures, is strictly prohibited. Patrons who tamper with a library hotspot may be subject to the following consequences:

  • Immediate suspension of hotspot borrowing privileges
  • Permanent loss of eligibility to check out hotspots
  • Financial responsibility for any damage or necessary repairs

The library reserves the right to determine the severity of tampering and enforce appropriate actions accordingly. Continued misuse may result in further restrictions on library services.
