Creation Station

The Creation Station is designed to ignite a passion for learning by providing opportunities for discovery, sparking innovation through exploration, and connecting the community. This vibrant space provides patrons of all ages with access to technology, hands-on experiences, and collaborative opportunities to bring ideas to life.  
In the Creation Station, you can expect to  

  • Develop valuable skills in3D printing, laser cutting, sublimation, design, and more.  

  • Spark entrepreneurial opportunities and explore small business ideas. 

  • Gain exposure to potential career paths in design, manufacturing, and technology,  
    encouraging career development for all ages. 

  • Engage in hands-on learning and problem-solving through creative projects and challenges. 

  • Connect with others, collaborate on projects, and build a stronger sense of community. 

Guidelines 

The Wayne County Public Library seeks to provide a safe environment to explore and create! Each piece of equipment has its own Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to be followed each time the equipment is used. Before using any equipment, please see a staff member for assistance. Library Policies apply in the Creation Station as well. 

This space has been made possible by a generous donation from the Romich Foundation. The Romich Foundation provides financial support for STEAM initiatives and programs that promote, encourage and support entrepreneurship in northeast Ohio.

Equipment Specific Information 

3D Printers 

Our 3D printers run demos during open lab hours. Our Makerspace Specialist can assist you with approved print requests.  

You will need:  

  • .STL File  

  • Filament, if you have specific preferences outside of what we provide. We currently stock standard, silk and matte PLA. Colors will vary. We do not allow ABS at this time.

Free 3D Printer file sites: 

We cannot guarantee print times. Each patron is limited to one printed plate per week. Prints are subject to approval.  

Sublimation Station 

Sublimation is a fun project that can be accomplished within Creation Station lab hours.  

You will need:  

  • An image, you can bring one in with you or design an image in the lab. 

  • The item you wish to sublimate. We cannot guarantee sublimation success. Fabric items must have at least 60% polyester in it. 100% polyester will give you the most vibrant and crisp result 

The Library has a supply of keychains, pot holders, and pencil pouches available to patrons while supplies last. This is limited to one per patron, per visit, per day.

XTools Laser 

The xTools laser is a 10W Diode laser. It will cut through 8mm basswood and some other thin opaque materials. It will also laser engrave by taking coatings off of materials such as paint.  

This laser cannot cut acrylic, metals, or any clear materials. It also cannot laser engrave into metal.  

If you would like to bring in your own items, please contact the Makerspace Specialist for assistance, (330) 262-0916. 

The library has a supply of 8mm basswood, keychains, and coasters available for patrons while supplies last. This is limited to one per person, per visit, per day.  

Cricut Maker 

Uses the program, Cricut Design Space.  

You will need:  

  • Your design 

  • If you require specific materials or colors, you will need to supply them.  

The Library has a variety of card stock, permanent vinyl and heat press vinyl available for patrons while supplies last. This is limited to one project per person, per visit, per day. 

Button Makers 

This button maker will create 1.25” and 3” buttons. 

You will need:  

  • Images or designs, we recommend using a copy and not the original. 

The Library has a supply of button making materials available to patrons while supplies last. This is limited to two three-inch buttons and five 1.25 inch buttons per person, per day.
