Emerging Technologies Specialist

Job Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and providing innovative technology training programs for library patrons of all ages as well as for library staff, for maintaining the library’s social media platforms, and for troubleshooting software and hardware related problems. Assists patrons in using the online catalog, Internet and other electronic resources; and provides instruction as needed. Stays current with all aspects of technology as it relates to public libraries. Provides recommendations to management regarding new and emerging technologies.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with proven technology experience or an equivalent combination of other education and related work experience. Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Working Conditions: Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week. Requires frequent travel to all library branch locations.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends

Knowledge of: Web trends, eMedia, social media platforms and other emerging technologies, as well as common software applications, operating systems and hardware.

Skills and Abilities: Ability to plan and conduct technology-related programs. Ability to write and upload new web content. Comfort with public speaking. Familiarity with common software solutions, operating systems, web site maintenance and the ruse of various social media platforms. Ability to troubleshoot basic software and hardware problems. Demonstrated experience providing training, both one-on-one and in a group setting. Ability to work independently and to make sound decisions.

Pay Range: Starts at $29,120, with actual pay depending upon qualifications and experience.
