Flat Bertha comes to WCPL!

Flat Bertha comes to WCPL!

Bertha Ellsperman was Wayne County Public Library’s very first librarian, hired in 1897.

The Wayne County Public Library is celebrating 120 years of providing public library service with two Bertha photo contests.

The library has a life-sized cut out of Bertha. She will be making appearances around the county this summer and fall.  If you find “Flat Bertha” take a “selfie” with her, post it on Facebook, tag the library (make sure it’s the Wayne County Public Library in Ohio!), use the hashtag #flatbertha and you will be entered into a prize drawing (one photo per location, per person.) The prize for this contest is a $25 gift card.

The second contest is the Bitty Bertha Photo contest.   Cut out a “Bitty Bertha” (available at all Library locations or here) Snap photos of her, with or without you (one photo per location, per person.)  Photos can either be emailed to director@wcpl.info or mailed to the library.

There will be $25 gift card prizes for:

  1. Most unique photo
  1. Best use of a library card or library in the picture
  1. Furthest distance from Wayne County, Ohio

There will also be one $50 Grand Prize winner drawn from all entries submitted.

The deadline for both contests is Saturday, October 21, 2017.

Although anyone can enter, prizes will be awarded to Wayne County Public Library card holders in good standing.  Current employees are not eligible to win prizes.
