Akron-Summit County Public Library Our Special Collections Division houses the library’s collection of genealogy and local history materials. Our goal is to collect, preserve, and provide access to the history of Summit County, and to continue to maintain one of the area’s most extensive genealogy collections.

Barberton Health Department The Barberton Health Department records and stores all Birth and Death certificates for the City of Barberton, from the current back to and including 1909 and the City of Norton from the current back to and including 2001. Maintaining these records with accuracy and integrity for statistical purposes for the well-being of the citizens of Barberton and Norton.

Summit County Common Pleas Court The Summit County Clerk of Courts website offers searchable court and Naturalization records.

Summit County Probate Court The Probate Court maintains records of all matters filed within the Court. Such matters include Estates, Guardianships, Trusts, Marriage Licenses, Change of Names, and various other records.

Summit Memory Project An online scrapbook capturing the history of Summit County, Ohio. Administered by the Akron-Summit County Public Library, Summit Memory is a county-wide collaborative project. Through this website you can access some of the remarkable collections held by the partner institutions. You can browse the collections or search for a specific image or document. Summit Memory is also a partner in Ohio’s Heritage Northeast; a gateway to digital collections held by universities, colleges and public libraries throughout northeastern Ohio.
