 Money Week

Money Smart Week is a national initiative sponsored by the American Library Association and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago to help consumers of all ages improve their financial literacy and better manage their personal finances. Wayne County Public Library in partnership with Wayne Savings Community Bank, Directions Credit Union, OSU Extension, and the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank is pleased to offer the following educational programs:

 

All programs are free and open to the public but registration is required for planning purposes.

Monday April 4 - 7:00 pm
Financial Crimes presented by Wayne Savings Community Bank

Learn to protect yourself from financial crimes. The Fraud Unit of Wayne Savings Community Bank will present a 45 minute presentation covering ATM skimming and fraud, credit card fraud and skimming, Nigerian scams, international lottery scams, counterfeit instrument scams, and counterfeit currency. Numerous counterfeit instruments will be available for viewing. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.

Managing Between Jobs presented by Marcia Brueck, OSU Extension
Losing a job, for whatever reason, can be a devastating experience - emotionally and financially. Learn how you can maintain control of your finances by setting spending priorities, dealing with creditors, and taking advantage of family and community resources.

Tuesday April 5 - 6:30 pm
My Life and Money presented by Directions Credit Union
A special Money Smart Week program for children in grades K-6. Children will travel around a game board earning money, collecting an allowance, purchasing needed items, and saving money to become financially responsible.   Please call the Children’s Department at 330-804-4663 to register for this program, on the Events Calendar online at wcpl.info, or ask at the Children’s Desk.

Financial Crimes Against Seniors presented by Wayne Savings Community Bank
A special presentation for seniors covering identity theft, ATM fraud, credit card fraud, insurance fraud, investment fraud, Nigerian scams and burial scams. Detection and prevention will be covered. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.

Save money by using WCPL on-line classes
Desiree Cutright, WCPL Human Resources Coordinator will describe how using Universal Class for HR training can save your company money. Linda Davis, Manager of Adult Services will describe general interest classes available to the public at no cost through WCPL. Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch. Drinks will be provided.

Managing Money Wisely by Kriss Plumer of the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank
A representative from the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank will visit WCPL to discuss making thoughtful money choices. A question and answer period will follow the presentation. Find out what the Fed does for you!

Investing 101: Simple Strategies to Get Started in the World of Investing
Morningstar’s Markets Editor, Jeremy Glaser will be conducting an investing webinar. Learn how to use Morningstar's online research tools to supplement your investing strategies. Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch. Drinks will be provided.
